The procuratorate is using its supervisory power to go after officials who fail in their duties to prevent environmental and food safety accidents. The suggestion is that there is often a corrupt official behind such instances, but it could just as easily be that a head must roll when the public is unhappy with these highly prominent areas of social concern.
